As Salaam Alykum!
I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation to the staff, students, and families of PACE Academy for all their efforts this year. It is hard to believe that we are at the end of the 2016-2017 school year. I want to thank our Teachers, Staff, and Parents for their efforts to make PACE Academy the nurturing, caring, and academically challenging school that it is. PACE students have worked extremely hard, and I couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments.
The end of the school year always seems to arrive too quickly. The thoughts of Ramadan festivities, summer, and outdoor activities sometimes can distract us from important learning habits. Please continue to encourage your children to finish the year strong by putting forth their best effort every day. We are in the middle of the month of Ramadan: along with fasting, this is the month of Quran, charity, and forgiveness. Please encourage the children to read Quran (perhaps set a goal of Quran ‘Khatam’) and to participate in masjid activities that MAPS, ICOE, ICOR, ICOB, and ICOS are offering.
I would like to say a special thank you to all our Volunteers! You have made a difference in the lives of our students, and we truly appreciate it. Our faculty and staff would also like to extend a special thank you to our Parent Group for organizing excellent enrichment programs and great community activities! You have done a fantastic job!
PACE Academy inculcates the notion that there should be no separation between a time for learning and a time for formation, between acquiring concepts and growing in wisdom. At PACE Academy, these ideas are weaved with the golden thread of Islamic faith… it’s what we practice! At PACE, we place a great deal of emphasis on educating the whole child. We value a challenging and rigorous academic program, in addition to personal wellness and character education. We strive to model and reinforce good behavior through activities and interactions both inside the classroom and out in the community. Our three standards of behavior: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, foster personal accountability and consideration of self and others. This has been for me a fantastic third year as Principal at PACE Academy! I continue to be truly blessed! I hope everyone will enjoy a beautiful summer full of exciting activities and quality family time. May Allah bless us all and keep us safe throughout the season and may we always remember Him as we are always in His presence.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “One who treads a path in search of knowledge has his path to Paradise made easy by God…” – (Riyadh us-Saleheen, 245)
During summer, please take advantage of free time and encourage students to engage in some reading, math, and science, in addition to the summer fun. Find below some suggestions to help children motivated:
– Join your areas’ King County Library System Summer Reading program. It is free, and it will allow your child to pick books to read, and in the end, they will reward your child with a small gift and a certificate.
– Immersive K-12 learning experience (ixl.com)
– Short lectures in the form of YouTube videos featuring practice exercises. Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org)
– A list of Great Free Math Websites http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2012/08/a-list-of-great-free-math-websites-for.html
Finally, please remember to join us next year and fill in the PACE on-line registration form ASAP so that we can hold a spot for your child. Make sure to re-enroll your child with WAVA for the 2017-2018 school year. WAVA has already opened early enrollment due to high demand for the program. Congratulations to our graduates of KG, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders! PACE Board and Staffs will be working entire summer. We shall be working even harder to make 2016-2017 an exciting academic year for PACE families insh’Allah.
The open communication between PACE parents and staff foster a true sense of community and partnership. We welcome your feedback and suggestions as to how to make PACE Academy even stronger. I am honored to serve the students and families of PACE Academy School as Principal. If you have any questions or concerns, at any time, please contact your child’s teacher or me as needed.
You all have been wonderful, and I look forward to seeing all of you next year!
Best Regards,
